TIG Welding Robots: TIG welding, also known as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), is a commonly used, high-quality welding process.

In TIG welding, an arc is formed between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the metal being welded.

Gas is fed through the torch to shield the electrode and molten weld pool. If filler wire is used, it is added to the weld pool separately.

TIG welding has become a popular choice of welding processes when high quality, precision welding is required.

RobotWorx' customized RW1000 workcell matches stringent TIG welding requirements for aerospace component manufacturer. 

Application Goals:

  • TIG Welding Performance - Require precise, thorough welds with excellent appearance.

  • Speed/Accuracy ­- Workcell must be outfitted with a robot that will work efficiently and with exactitude.

  • Safety ­- System components and operator must be completely protected from TIG welding heat/spark/glare.

  • Space-Efficiency - Robotic TIG system must be constructed to provide a compact footprint.

RobotWorx Solution Details:

  • RobotWorx RW1000 - two station pre-engineered workcell with 6-axis medium reach robot. Includes two stationary weld tables, rigid steel enclosure, door interlocks, and common base. Entry doors utilize steel mesh with arc glare protection. One entry door for each side of the workcell. Base comes with forklift pockets. One entry door for each side of the workcell. Base comes with forklift pockets. Includes common power disconnect; robot and welding power supply are fused separately. 

  • Motoman UP6 XRC  - Reconditioned 6-axis medium reach robot with 6kg payload capacity. Includes XRC controls and teach pendant

  • Fronius TransTig 3000 Tig Welding Package - New 300 amp Fronius tig welding package with cold wire feed system. Includes power source, 4-roll feed system, ROB-5000 interface card, interface cables, water cooled torch, chiller, spool holder, backliner, positive and negative leads, safety mount, guide tube, and integration to the XRC controls. 

  • Safety Environment - Steel enclosure mounted to common base, one door interlock on operator door, and two interlocks on slide door. 

  • Operator Station - Important commands: Start A and B, E-stop, Servo-On, Hold, Re-Start. 

  • Training - Two days of training at RobotWorx' facility. 

  • Warranty - One year after ship date - 100% parts and service.
