Examples of Robotics
Brief Summary:
Various robot competitions have been created including BattleBots. Robonexus has been used as a show of sorts for robots. One example of a robot created was a small exoskeleton developed by Team Techno Trousers.
- Dan Danknick was thinking robots. Robots, after all, are what Danknick knows.
- A founding member of the Robot Fighting League, Danknick prepared fierce android warriors for combat on Comedy Central's BattleBots and served as technical host on TLC's Robotica.
- Robonexus is a sort of world's fair for the robotics community, and last year the Tetsujin competition was its ice cream cone.
- Engineering styles for the robots varied as vastly as their engineers. Dan Rupert, a high school teacher from San Diego and the leader of Team Techno Trousers, built a compact exoskeleton powered by a "simple" screw-drive mechanism.
- At the spectrum's other end, Team Mechanicus (father and son Scott and Jascha Little) arrived from Austin, Texas, with a hulking, half-ton robot that boasted autonomous, digitally hydraulic hips, knees and ankles.
