The RWC-9000 and RWC-9100 models are used with robots. The timer is set by the control panel. Both models have advantages when used with robots. As part of a line upgrade at a UK automotive manufacturing plant, 145 resistance weld timers - remotely settable through robot control panels - have been installed. Programming on these timer/contactors is carried out by remote setting via the robot control panel.

Robots remove the need for outsourcing thus jobs are staying in the country. Smaller companies are now automating their processes, which accounts for the growth in robotics. The growth may also be due to the advancements in the technology that allow for uses in various industries.

The company's Fanuc P155e Robots automate the painting process. The problem lied in reprogramming these robots in order to make change easier. Reprogramming would take too long by hand, so the company used ROBCAD. This software was not costly improved efficiency. Reprogramming a complex robotic paint process results in a faster and less expensive operation. A major truck manufacturing company wanted a faster and less expensive paint process to accompany its new, more viscous clear coats.

A servo gripper was revealed by Applied Robotics. This product allows for greater accuracy and versatility. Other automation parts will shown, all of which improve versatility, dependability, and productivity. Applied Robotics' serial servo gripper features interchangeable fingers to hold or carry test tubes, microplates in both landscape or portrait orientation, and other media. The gripper offers 76.

The company made improvements to their process by using robotic welding. The initial system did not initially bring benefits though that changed with the alterations and the incorporation of new Panasonic robots. The AW-005AL and VR-006AL models allowed for the proper aluminum welds yielding increased production.  Robotic MIG welding of 48-foot aluminum trailers has upgraded product quality and improved productivity at the Utility Trailer plant in Enterprise, Alabama.

The use of computer simulation saves companies money by observing processes before ever installing the equipment. Problems with the process can be seen and fixed prior to running the production.  The program makes it possible to determine where robots may be a better choice than workers to avoid injuries. But advances in computer technology have given us a "virtual world," where engineers can use digital models in place of cardboard and paper.

Automation of a process brings many benefits including increased productivity, decreased waste and cost of labor. Also, employees are safer since the robots remove the risks associated with production. Production is improved with the increase in versatility. Flexible automation means more flexibility in responding to changes on the production floor. By definition, robots are modular, expandable, re-configurable and can be upgraded.

Gudel has developed a system for the automotive industry. TrackMotion reduced costs and increases efficiency. Fanuc M16 robots are used with the system which improve productivity. The Gudel equipment is used to position Fanuc type m16 industrial robots quickly, consistently and with pinpoint accuracy, as part of fully automated parts loading solutions installed by Fanuc robotics in six flow line manufacturing cells at Carringworth's Sussex-based production plant.

Robots have been used in many processes such as, painting. By incorporating robots into this process, the hazards associated with paints are removed while aesthetic and productivity are improved. New machinery such as, FANUC's P-200T is being used to make even further advancements. Automation also improves application appearance, consistency and throughput and often means a savings in materials through greater application efficiency.

Robots have advanced into many areas of manufacturing and in various industries. Robots replace workers in dangerous tasks and help with the shortage of labor. In terms of costs, it is only beneficial to automate a process if robots are run on high volume productions for many shifts. Thinking about automating your buffing and polishing operations? Factors such as return on investment, health and safety issues and auxiliary costs should be considered before taking the plunge.
