The Inter­nal Dress­ing of the ABB IRB 6640ID-170 IRC5 offers high­er motion con­trol, pre­dictable dress pack life­time, longer dress pack life­time, and less spare part cost. This is because the cables are rout­ed inside the upper arm and fol­low the robot arm’s every motion instead of swing­ing in irreg­u­lar pat­terns. True­Move and Quick­Move also pro­vide con­sis­ten­cy as they help mon­i­tor loads and improve path pre­ci­sion to help increase the pro­duc­tiv­i­ty and over­all span of the robot­’s life. 

The ID mod­el is a huge advan­tage as the IRB 6640ID-170 tack­les a vari­ety of appli­ca­tions requir­ing pay­loads up to 170 kg, reach­es up to 2750 mm. It also offers a small­er foot­print with its abil­i­ty to bend ful­ly over back­wards. Safe­ty was impor­tant when devel­op­ing this robot as it has a bunch of addi­tion­al fea­tures such as mov­able mechan­i­cal stops, EPS, and load identification. 

There are a vari­ety of pro­tec­tion options are avail­able such as Foundry Plus 2, Foundry Prime 2, load iden­ti­fi­ca­tion, mov­able mechan­i­cal stops, and elec­tron­ic posi­tions switch­es (EPS). Over­all, the IRB 6640ID-170 is ready to seam­less­ly con­quer any mate­r­i­al han­dling, machine tend­ing, or spot weld­ing job.
