In 2007, KUKA introduced its first robot controller with wireless capabilities. It was based off the technology that made the Nintendo Wii possible. As a matter of fact, at the ATX West Expo that year, the robot was controlled by a Wii remote and Bluetooth signal.
It was at that expo that KUKA introduced the KR C2 controller, a flexible wireless robot controller that could control a multitude of robots in the KUKA line. While the KR C2 was an innovation, it was just the beginning, leading to the newest KUKA wireless controllers, the KR C4 series.
The KR C4 series not only has wireless capabilities, but it also quicker interfacing for safety purposes. The KR-C4 wireless controllers not only run robots in the KUKA line, but are also compatible with PLCs and CNC machines in the shop, keeping the manufacturer from having to invest in separate controllers. And, with the lack of wiring, there’s less wire to replace, protect or trip over in the shop, saving manufactures time and money.
