Used robot maintenance is the key to elongating the life of any used robotic system in your shop. All of the axes and motors need to be checked regularly by technicians to ensure that the robot is moving at its full speed and potential. Grease levels should also be checked as deemed necessary to ensure that gears and other moving parts are lubricated. Lack of grease could cause the gears to grind, which would make them wear down or break, causing costly repairs to be necessary.
Another part of the used robotic system that needs to be regularly maintained is the end effector. Material handling grippers need to be checked at hinges and other connections to ensure that they are working at full capacity. Welding torches need to be cleaned and maintained. And, one of the most important end effectors, material removal end effectors, need to be checked for nicks that could not only mess up the application, but cause the end effector to break, which could possibly lead to injuries.
If a used robot is being maintained properly, it will last for years and years, as stated above. That means that you will have a reliable worker that is going to be there every day, 365 days a year, performing the tasks that you deem necessary for successful productivity.
