Usually, when you buy something “As-Is,” you get just that – a product that may or may not work. No matter what, you have to deal with it – no apologies, no recourse and no returns. This is not the case when it comes to RobotWorx, a certified robotics integrator for several different robotic companies, including FANUC, Motoman, KUKA, Universal Robots, and ABB.
With most companies, “As-Is” means that you take the robot as it is in the showroom. It isn’t powered up, you don’t know if it works. This means that if your robot does not run, or if there are parts missing or damaged, you will not know this until you get it back to your factory and try to power it up. Then, you are responsible at that point for all of the parts and maintenance to attempt to fix that particular robot. Why would people choose this option? Because it is often the cheapest option for purchasing a robot.
However, with RobotWorx, a customer does not take on the same risks when they purchase an “As-Is” robot. “If a customer buys a robot from us ‘As-Is,’ we will have the robot powered up and ready for them to test in our facility,” said Keith Wanner, President of RobotWorx. He also said that customers are welcome to test and run the robot for as long as they want until they are sure the robot meets their satisfaction. “If it doesn’t, they don’t pay anything. If it does, they still have a thirty day right to return and will receive a full refund. So, there’s no risk with our ‘As-Is’ robots.”
