Robotic Competitions

May 13, 2014

Robotic competitions help to educate the next generation of robotics engineers. There are ways to get involved in robotic competitions across the globe in which you can win money or prizes. These types of competitions have helped introduce robotics to new industries and people around the world.

Every year, people from all over the world compete in many different robotics competitions as a way to not only win money or prizes, but also to further the study of robotics. These competitions have introduced robotics to several new industries, including the domestic and service industries – areas where robots only existed in science fiction.

Many of these robot competitions are held for middle school, high school and college students. One of the larger competitions, the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition, has been around since 1992, and as the name states, it challenges high school students worldwide to learn about robotics and celebrate it, while also building a robot that will compete on the grand stage.

That really is what many robotics competitions are about – education and getting the next generation involved in robotics. Industrial robotics, as well as domestic and service robotics, are becoming more and more popular in society, and by competing in these competitions and getting excited about robotics, competitors may decide to go into the field of robotics. That means that students would be prepared for the future, and have experience building robots before ever setting foot on a college campus – which is another reason that the experience of competing in robotic challenges is some important.

All in all, when students learn about robotics, they are learning about the future, and they are helping to build technology one robot at a time.

Some of those students may go on to college and become robotics technicians or engineers, and then start working for robotics integrators like Robots.com. Robots.com provides automation solutions from several different robotics companies, including Fanuc, Motoman, KUKA, Universal Robots, and ABB. Our staff of engineers and technicians will work with you to help you build the perfect industrial robot for your facility.
