On the first Friday in October of every year, companies and communities across the country come together to celebrate modern manufacturing during National MFG Day. This holiday was designed to inform and inspire the next generation of manufacturers; it provides an opportunity for manufacturers to open their doors and address common misconceptions. MFG Day helps empower manufacturers as they come together, network, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry by taking charge of the public image of manufacturing.
Manufacturing Day first started in 2012 by the Founding Partner Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International. Other organizations that have helped to grow this national day of celebration include the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). They have continued to create events from coast to coast that inspire others to learn, invest in, and pursue automation.
On October 6th of this year, a few RobotWorx employees went to celebrate at the 2017 Tri-Rivers RAMTEC MFG Day. RobotWorx has always made an effort to connect with the community and share their passion for robotic automation with others, especially rising students. Jacque Dickson, the HR Manager for RobotWorx stated, "We are extremely proud to be a part of the manufacturing community, and are excited to connect with both the present and future workforce in automation and robotics right here in Marion."
The Tri-Rivers RAMTEC day was filled with tons of industrial demonstrations on the latest STEM careers and previews of the advanced technology available in manufacturing facilities today. People in attendance were able to participate in "hands on" demonstrations with industrial robots, Hydraulics, Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCs, Automated Guided Vehicles, Universal and FANUC Collaborative robots, Lulzbots 3D printers, Laser Engravers, FANUC, Haas, South Bend and MAZAK Automated Machining as well as Lincoln and Miller Robotic, MIG & TIG Welding.
At the Marion, Ohio National Manufacturing Day at Tri-Rivers by RAMTEC, visitors could see various demonstrations and visit information boots to learn more about the area manufacturing companies. Additionally, they could watch various robotics and automation student competitions. Craig Sharfenberg, a RobotWorx Application Engineer was in attendance and said, "There's a lot of interest in the robotics industry from the younger generation. It's exciting to see the positive influence RobotWorx has on the community."
National Manufacturing Day was truly inspiring this year, it was great to see the communities and future generations come together and further thrive among the manufacturing industry. At RobotWorx, we like to celebrate manufacturing everyday, but this once a year holiday shows how important it is for educating the public and bringing people together across the country, to honor what the manufacturing industry has done and continues to do.
