Motoman launches new STEM platform for robotics education

Aug 2, 2013

Motoman robotics is expanding the ability for students to study robotics by providing opportunities to develop specific manufacturing skills. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is an imperative skill for kids today and so integrating robotics will be very beneficial across the board.

Like many of the other major robotics manufacturers, Motoman Robotics is interested in expanding the ability for students to study robotics. By providing these opportunities, students are ensured to develop skills that can be used in manufacturing and other technological jobs.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) platform is at the forefront of education today. With the fast-paced, ever-changing world of technology, students today need to learn abilities that can equip them for the workplace. Motoman wants to help.

Motoman announced recently, according to a July 31 article from RobotXworld, that it is making two new platforms available for STEM education – a general-purpose platform and a welding education cell platform.

These platforms are able to help students practice technologies at a high school and college level that are found in manufacturing environments, the article stated. With this kind of hands-on education and training available, students are able to learn key skills required for the new robotic-driven industries of today.

One issue facing manufacturers now is the lack of skilled workers available for high-tech jobs. As robotic manufacturing moves forward, even more of these workers are going to be needed. The US Department of Labor estimates that the robotics engineering field alone will rise up to 13 percent by 2018. Motoman’s STEM platform ensures that today’s youth will become tomorrow’s technicians, designers and robotic engineers.

Robots.com has a vested interest in hands-on robotics training at the high school, vocational and college level. Over the years, graduates from local robotics programs have gone on to gain employment in their hometown at the Robots.com facility in Marion, Ohio.

Robots.com carries a vast array of robotic models for welding, material handling and material removal, along with several other applications. Our robots are ready for purchase and customization today. For more information about automating with Robots.com, contact us online or at 8777626881.
