RAMTEC brings needed robotic skills to Marion

RAMTEC, which stands for Robot­ics & Advanced Man­u­fac­tur­ing Tech­nol­o­gy Edu­ca­tion Col­lab­o­ra­tive, opened recent­ly in Mar­i­on, Ohio, in part­ner­ship with Mar­i­on Tech­ni­cal Col­lege, Tri-Rivers Career Cen­ter, and The Ohio State Uni­ver­si­ty at Mar­i­on to bring need­ed robot­ic man­u­fac­tur­ing skills to the area’s residents.

The three schools list­ed above worked togeth­er with robot­ic com­pa­nies like Robots​.com, Hon­da, Fanuc Robot­ics, Lin­coln Elec­tric, and Yaskawa Motoman to intro­duce indus­tri­al robot­ics oper­a­tion and advanced man­u­fac­tur­ing skills to the cen­tral Ohio area.

Com­pa­nies like Robots​.com, which is based in Mar­i­on, Ohio, under­stand that man­u­fac­tur­ing skills are sore­ly lack­ing in the job mar­ket today. While old­er gen­er­a­tions saw man­u­fac­tur­ing as a viable means to make a liv­ing and sup­port a fam­i­ly, today’s stu­dents are more focused on jobs out­side of the man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor. That leaves a huge hole in the hir­ing pool when man­u­fac­tur­ers need to hire mate­r­i­al han­dlers, assem­blers and welders to com­plete their production.
