Fanuc M-900iB/280

With a design that is based on its sib­ling, the M‑900iB/​360, the Fanuc M‑900iB/​280 is a rigid, pre­cise robot. Fanuc went back to the draw­ing board with this mod­el, giv­ing the J3 arm more stiff­ness, which allows this mod­el to be the ulti­mate M‑900iB for pre­ci­sion. While the M900iB/​280 is suit­ed for a vari­ety of dif­fer­ent mate­r­i­al han­dling appli­ca­tions, it shines when used for mate­r­i­al removal process­es, like rout­ing, cut­ting, debur­ring, and drilling, where the tool­ing requires pres­sure and accu­ra­cy is an absolute must.

While the rigid­i­ty of the M‑900iB/​280 is one of the main fea­tures, this robot is still con­sid­ered flex­i­ble. It can be mount­ed to the floor, ceil­ing, wall, or at an angle, and while it is stiff, it is still flex­i­ble enough to per­form appli­ca­tions that require the six degrees of freedom. 

The M900iB/​280 also boasts a small­er foot­print for a pow­er­ful robot. With a foot­print of only 830mm x 610mm, an aver­age pow­er con­sump­tion of 3kW, when run­ning on a 380 – 575 volt­age 50/​60Hz 3 phase pow­er sup­ply, and an acoustic noise lev­el of 73.9 deci­bels, this robot does­n’t take up a lot of room, while still hav­ing a lot of pow­er and reach, and the abil­i­ty to run fair­ly qui­et­ly in your shop. The body of the M‑900iB/​280 has an IP54 rat­ing, which means it is pro­tect­ed from dust and splash­ing water. It has an option­al IP56 rat­ing, which would allow the body to with­stand water­jet clean­ing. The wrist and J3 arm of the robot is rat­ed at IP67, mak­ing it dust-proof and able to with­stand being immersed in up to 1m of water.

This rigid, pow­er­ful robot is a great addi­tion to any machin­ing or tool­ing shop.
