Dual Motoman UP6 robots in ArcWorld 6200 increase production and quality in welds

A company in Lugoff, South Carolina reached out to RobotWorx to purchase a MIG welding cell that could improve their overall productivity. RobotWorx was able to deliver a Motoman welding cell complete with reconditioned robots, a positioner, welding package, and safety package.

Application Goal:

To increase the speed, efficiency, and quality of the MIG welding application.

RobotWorx Solution:

Work Cell: RobotWorx used a custom ArcWorld 6200 workcell layout for the system that increased efficiency when welding longer parts.

Robots: The work cell was outfitted with two reconditioned Motoman UP6 MIG welding robots with XRC controllers. The robots can weld parts separately or together.

Positioner: The welding cell had a ferris wheel positioner with headstock/tailstock which allowed the parts to be rotated into the robot work area, and also allowed the parts to be rotated while the robots were welding.

Welding Package: The robots have Miller Auto Axcess 450 welding supplies with Miller MIG welding torches.

Safety Package: The work cell uses light curtains, a safety scanner, a 9-button op station, a Binzel Abicor safety shut-off for the robot arm, and a PILZ safety control system. This would ensure that the robot could still operate while someone was standing in front of the positioner, but the table could not rotate.

Warranty: The system has a full-one year RobotWorx warranty.

Training and Install: RobotWorx work cells come complete with free training for up to three employees at the Marion, Ohio facility.
