What Is A Deadman Switch?
A deadman switch is a servo power ON/OFF switch located at the back of some teach pendants. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the robot operator during the training phase.
How It Works
While in teach mode, robot servo power remains on as long as the deadman switch is pressed. When the switch is released, the power immediately shuts off.
Safety Function
This safety feature allows operators to instantly stop robot operation by simply releasing the switch during:
- Manual manipulation procedures
- Block operation sequences
This provides an immediate safety mechanism during hands-on programming and testing activities.
