Customized Weld Cell with a Fanuc ArcMate 100iC/6L Robot

One of the best parts of work­ing with a robot­ics inte­gra­tor is the abil­i­ty to cus­tomize your own weld­ing cell, as opposed to buy­ing a stock work cell or robot sys­tem from the man­u­fac­tur­er. When a cus­tomer invests in a cus­tom weld­ing work cell, they are able to have it made to the exact spec­i­fi­ca­tions of their prod­uct and pro­duc­tion line. 

Robots​.com’ tech­ni­cians and engi­neers built this work­cell using a Fanuc Arc Mate 100iC/​6L robot with a Fanuc R‑30iA con­troller and a weld­ing pack­age con­sist­ing of a Lin­coln Pow­er­Wave 350, an Abi­cor Binzel chiller, and a Lin­coln Auto­Drive 4R220. 

The posi­tion­er on this sys­tem is a Cam­co rotat­ing table with two sep­a­rate posi­tion­ers affixed to each side that can tilt and rotate on their own. 

The safe­ty pack­age includes a large met­al bar­ri­er sep­a­rat­ing side A and side B of the Cam­co table and a SICK area scan­ner to ensure that no one enters the work area while the robot welder is in operation. 

This sys­tem is great for any parts man­u­fac­tur­er that wants to speed up their weld­ing appli­ca­tion. As opposed to a human welder who can load a part, weld a part, off load a part, and then start the process all over again, this work­cell allows a work­er to load parts on one side and then rotate the table to the robot for welding.
