How To Install An Industrial Robot

 

Deciding to automate industrial application sin your facility is an important decision and requires much research.  Once the decision has been made to integrate industrial robots and the robot has been decided on and delivered, it is time to install the robot.  The installation process may seem straight forward, but there are important tips and steps that should be followed. First, after your robot arrives at your facility it will be wrapped in plastic and set on skids.  After removing the robot from the truck, remove the plastic.  Second, inspect the robot for any damage and check to make sure all accessory and safety features are present and intact.  If you find anything missing or damaged, contact the robot integrator immediately for further instructions.  Third, using a fork lift and skids, move the robot to its designated location in your facility.  Depending on the design of your facility, it may need to be placed on a riser.  Another aspect to consider is the floors thickness and durability.  Robots are heavy and apply a lot of momentum.  You need to be sure the floor under the robot can sustain the force a robot will put out.  Check the robots manual for exact specifications.  Fourth, secure the robot to the floor using the bolts provided.  There will be more information in the manual.  Fifth, all cables and accessories need to be plugged in.  This includes connecting the teach pendant to the controller, and the controller to the manipulator. The cables are usually labeled specific to where they need to be plugged in.  Because different robots perform different tasks and applications, different cables will need to be plugged in.  For welding, there will be hoses for air, gas, and wire. Some robots and grippers only need power . Check the manual or contact the integrator for any questions .
