The custom FANUC ARC Mate 100iB dual welding cell built by RobotWorx has some great features, including two FANUC ARC Mate 100iB robots mounted at a 30 degree angle, a Lincoln Electric welding package, a Tregaskiss Tough Gun torch, a 180 degree indexing table and dual headstock/tailstock positioners. All of these factors play into the speed of this welding cell. The two robots are programmed to work either independently or collaboratively, meaning they can weld two parts, or they can weld one part together. Plus, with the custom positioners, two parts can be loaded while two other parts are being welded, which speeds up the process even more.
How much is the process sped up? It is estimated that with a dual welding cell like this FANUC Arc Mate 100iB cell can out-weld a human welder ten parts to one. This means (in theory) that if a company runs two 8-hour shifts a day, and a manual welder could only weld 1 part an hour, this cell could weld 10 parts an hour, which would translate to 80 parts a shift, per shift – dramatically increasing the company’s ability to finish orders and grow.
