INTEGRATOR OF NEW AND USED ROBOTS FOR INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION

What is a spider robot?

FANUC M-3iA Spider RobotFANUC Robotics' parallel-link robots are called spider robots because their model design and movements are very spiderlike.

Parallel-link or Delta style robots are a unique subset of industrial robots. Unlike vertically articulated robots, these robotic spiders have not one, but three "legs" connecting the robot's base and the EOAT plate. These jointed spider legs bend, moving the tooling plate up and down.

Spider robots are ideal for pick and place applications such as dispensing, material handling, palletizing, assembly, and packing. Extremely lightweight and compact, FANUC spider robots include the M-1iA/0.5A (6-axis), M-1iA/0.5S (4-axis), M-3iA (6-axis) and M-3iA/6S (4-axis).

Because of their great dexterity, these robots are also known as Genkotsu robots, which is the Japanese word for "fist." Common misspellings of Genkotsu include: jenkotsu, gencotsue, jencotsue, jincotsu, and ginkotsu.
