RobotWorks is an add-on feature for the software program SolidWorks. It allows the use of a Windows PC to design workcells, simulate robot motion, and test robot programming in an interactive CAD environment. RobotWorks supplies a CAD file of the robot models and allows user parts and fixtures to be loaded into the software library. Offering an intuitive design, RobotWorks is a popular training tool for real-world simulations.
Most industrial robots can be used in conjunction with RobotWorks. There are limitations, such as the robot must be a solid model with movable links. It must also have math files that enable joint values and joint limits and a post processor that writes points in the native robot language. While Robot Works is designed to work with the maximum number of robots possible, the library is continually growing.
The robot models in Robot Works are designed to look similar to their robot counterparts, but they are less-detailed. This creates a more efficient workspace as the processor load is lighter.
This robot software works with the following robot manufacturers: Fanuc, Kuka, Kawasaki, Staubli, Motoman, and ABB.
