Much like a SCARA (Selective Compliant Assembly Robot Arm), the FANUC LR Mate 200iC/5H is capable of performing assembly applications with precision and speed. However, the FANUC LR Mate 200iC/5H "eliminates" the SCARA by offering more flexibility and intelligence.
The FANUC LR Mate 200iC/5H is designed with five axes of movement and a vertically articulated arm. Compact and versatile, this FANUC robot can be installed anywhere - floor, ceiling, wall, table, or at an angle. The typical SCARA, in contrast, has a more restricted work envelope and fewer installation options.
The FANUC LR mate 200iC/5H is outfitted with sensors and vision capabilities. These features allow the FANUC robot to perform with greater accuracy and make fewer mistakes, thus eliminating the SCARA competition.
A FANUC iRVision software package is integrated into the robot - simply add a camera and cable to make the system fully functional. The FANUC robot can "see" assembly parts in 2D. An integrated FANUC FS-60 force sensor makes it possible for the robot perform 3D assembly with six degrees of freedom. SCARA robots are limited to 2D assembly.
